About Rainbow Respite
Queer Affirmative Therapy in India plus Peer Support Group & More...
At Home of Beautiful Souls (HOBS), we understand that the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals are unique and often face challenges not addressed in mainstream mental health approaches. Our Rainbow Respite program offers a safe haven for queer, transgender, and questioning individuals seeking support for their mental well-being.
Queer-Affirmative Therapists
Our team consists of qualified Queer Affirmative Clinical Psychologists (QACPs) and Mental Health Practitioners (MHPs). They understand and acknowledge the validity of your experiences as a member of the LGBTQ+ community.
Moving Beyond Stereotypes
We recognize that mainstream knowledge about LGBTQ+ identities can be limited and stereotypical. Our team prioritizes ongoing learning from the community itself to ensure culturally competent care.
Addressing Unique Life Stressors
LGBTQ+ individuals often face specific challenges due to their sexual orientation or gender identity. These "Unique Life Stressors" (ULS) can negatively impact mental health.

The Emotion Behind This Program, Our Project Head
Hi everyone, Arushi here, Project Lead for the "Rainbow Respite" program. Some of you might know me from my social work days, and for those who don't, I'm a law student with a deep passion for mental health access. Outside of work, I find peace in a good book (psychology texts or maybe some manga!), and love exploring the flavors of Bihari cuisine.
My own experiences as a neurodivergent and queer person sparked a fire in me to create a more inclusive mental health space. "Rainbow Respite" is all about offering that – a safe haven with therapy that truly understands and affirms the LGBTQ+ community. Because mental health shouldn't be a privilege, it should be there for everyone.
Whether I'm learning about the intricacies of the mind or unwinding with a calming read, I find immense purpose in this work. It's a privilege to be part of building a world where seeking help feels natural, and support is readily available. Let's create that better future, one step at a time.

We understand that mainstream knowledge about LGBTQ+ identities can be limited and stereotypical. Our team of qualified Queer Affirmative Clinical Psychologists (QACPs) and Mental Health Practitioners (MHPs) prioritize ongoing learning from the LGBTQ+ community itself. They view your lived experiences as valid and strive to understand your marginalization from your perspective, not through a stereotypical lens. They prioritize ongoing learning from the community itself to ensure culturally competent care that moves beyond stereotypes.
Addressing Unique Life Stressors (ULS)
LGBTQ+ individuals often face challenges like internalized homophobia/transphobia, difficulty coming out, lack of social support, harassment and violence, relationship issues outside the cis-heteronormative framework, and gender dysphoria. These ULS can significantly impact mental health. Our therapists are equipped to address these specific stressors with sensitivity and understanding.
